Sister NancySISTER NANCY (MUMA) MOTHER OF ALL DJ'S AND LEADER. FIRST OF THE PACK.If you're gonna be a pioneer, you better be a warrior., Night after night me work with the man them toe to toe. " say SISTER NANCY, reggae seminal female DJ. Maybe that's why she's fearless: defying Lucifer himself by living at number 666 in New Jersey suburd. " I am a very strong woman, she states simply. A true WARRIOR, irie Rastawoman, and a Ragamuffin of the highest order: tough outside. Kind heart inside, the kind of saucy sistren you would be blessed to have as a friend After taking on the reiging dancehall DONS of the day, Nancy tackled the tougher than tough (YARD) Jamaican audiences, becoming the first popular female DJ: the role model for successive generations of sisters, from LADY SAW TO SISTER CAROL and LADY ANN, LADY G and SHELLY THUNDER and CARLA MARSHALL, many more just naming a few. Born Ophlin Russell in Kingston, Jamaica (PAPINE) on January 2, 1962, Nancy was 13th of 15 children. Her older brother Robert Russell better known and beloved as BRIGADIER JERRY is sibling number 11 and her role model motivator, he's my everything she say's as she smile as usual Almighty God, she inspired her. It's because of Briggy, Nancy says, Him dance and all them things, and me use to watch and listen, I love all my brothers and sister, but Briggy and I have a special relationship because we do the same type of work. At age 15 Nancy began Djing on CHALICE then BLACK STAR then STEROPHONICS
sound system. Though MAMA LIZA was the first, technically the first
female MC. Arriving a couple months earlier Nancy was the breakthrough
one. That's why she's the only woman DJ with Degree. Surprisingly, her
male counterparts were supportive." |

King Yellowman has an incredible history in Reggae music. His upbringing at the Maxfield Home orphanage in Kingston and being albino in Jamaica were two obstacles the he overcame and went on to be (at one time) the biggest reggae artist since Bob Marley.
After winning a talent contest at Tastee Patties in Kingston, Yellow went on to excite reggae crowds all over Jamaica and the rest of the world with his boastful and sometimes bodacious lyrics. His ability to ride rhythm and excite a crowd made Yellow an instant hit in Jamaica. He also began to work with the Ace Sound System in St. Thomas and drew big crowds at his dancehall performances. Later in his career, Yellow began to spread out and work for a number of different producers, sometimes releasing as many as five albums per year. This led to a recording contract with CBS Records. Yellowman recorded one album with them before he was diagnosed with jaw cancer and was given six months to live. This was in 1986. After surgery an extended leave of absence from the record industry, Yellowman began his comeback with the song "Blueberry Hill", and his career was re-launched. His first album for RAS came from producer Phillip 'Fatis' Burrell and was called "Yellow Like Cheese". Coincidentally this was the start of a long and fruitful relationship with RAS and Yellowman and also RAS and 'Fatis' and his exterminator production. Yellowman has always been very professional to work with and always a respectful and reliable human being. He has managed to outlive his predicted fate of death and his performances are incredibly lively as he seems to have an unlimited amount of stage energy. We can only hope for the best for Yellowman. He has continued his hard work and his devotion to his family is to be complimented.
The rudest Dancehall toaster of the 1980s, Jamaica's albino son Yellowman made as many enemies as fans with his controversial, often overtly sexist (if tongue in cheek) lyrics. Now back on the Ragga scene, singing at a slightly slower pace, Yellowman's witticisms are as cheeky, spirited and intelligent as ever, and delivered with his customary sharp, melodic style.

In 1991 DJ Critical was first introduced to reggae music. Everyone has heard reggae music or has heard of reggae music before, but something about his companionship to reggae music was different.
Influenced by these elements, he began a long journey experimenting and producing as well as building an arsenal of a record collection that can truly rock the world and even make Jamaica respect the ground he walks. Currently working along side General Bingie, DJ Critical is not only "The New and Upcoming DJ/ Producer" , but also someone whom artists are going to want to work with in the future.
